Minimally invasive diagnostic procedure used to examine your pet's gastrointestinal system.
An endoscopy is a procedure where a tube with a camera at the end of it is inserted into your pet through their mouth or rectum. It is an excellent way to examine the interior of the gastrointestinal system (e.g. esophagus, stomach and intestines) without invasive surgery. If you wish to learn more about our endoscopy services, please call us at 902-865-8110 and one of our client care specialists will be happy to assist you.
Absolutely. Endoscopies are a routine procedure performed all over the world by veterinary teams like ours. Because there would be discomfort involved for conscious patients, it is necessary to use general anesthesia in cases where endoscopy is required.
If your pet is having any kind of stomach or digestive problems (e.g. diarrhea, abdominal pain) your veterinarian may perform an endoscopic exam to analyze the area. In addition, an access channel in the endoscope allows us to biopsy suspicious growths in the body while also providing the ability to retrieve and extract foreign objects lodged in the throat or stomach.
